Dear Valued Customer,
You have probably noticed it. Coughs and sniffles are becoming more prevalent each day. That means that flu season is on its way. You can't run from it, but you can take steps to prevent flu infection. Below are three easy steps to help you and your family stay healthy this flu season.
Wash Your Hands!
The single most important way you can stay healthy this season is by consistently washing your hands. Germs can live for weeks on surfaces, which is why the flu is so communicable. If someone in your office with the flu sneezes into their hands, they will transfer flu germs to everything they touch until those germs are removed. The most effective method of ridding your hands of germs is plain old soap and water. Wash your hands regularly with soap and warm water. With frequent hand washings, you will want to use something natural, like Kirk's Castile Soap, to prevent irritation. Between washings, squirt some hand sanitizer into your palms. In order to be effective, make sure you have enough sanitizer on your hands that they will be wet for 10-15 seconds. It will be enough to kill most of the germs on your hands.
Wear a Mask
According to the CDC, the flu is passed around mostly by people coughing and sneezing on each other. This is known as "droplet spread." Cold and flu droplets can be projected up to three feet, so it is airborne. During flu season's peak, which is Novemeber through March, consider wearing a mask when out in public. The Wein Antiflu Antiviral FitSeal Mask is great for this purpose. It's comfortable to wear, and is shaped to form a seal around the face assuring no germs get through.
Get a Flu Shot
Perhaps the most effective method against fighting the flu virus is to get a flu vaccination. It is a once-per-season shot that helps your body build a resistance to the flu virus. Each year, the type of flu that infects us is different. A flu shot is last year's flu. By getting the flu shot each season, your body will build a resistance and become inoculated to new flu strains.
