Dear Valued Customer,

With the returning warmth and melting snow, spring is a season prone to flooding. Every year, flooding causes expensive property damage and causes major inconveniences. Fortunately, Safe Home™ offers many solutions to staying safe and dry this spring!

Flood Detective Solid State Water Alarm

Install water alarms to keep your property protected against water damage and the nightmare of clean-up and repairs. The Flood Detective Pro stand alone water sensor units are perfect for homes and businesses. The Flood Detective Pro water detector alarms alert you to water leaks early to minimize the risks of water damage and mold growth.  Position stand-alone Flood Detective water leak alarm units in homes and businesses.  The 92dB alarm lets you know about hidden water leaks and overflows.  Flood Detective uses water sensors that detect water at a depth of 1/32", are wafer thin for use under carpets or small spaces and have adhesive strips to keep sensors firmly in place.  Flood Detective's fail-safe technology informs you of A/C power loss or low battery levels.

The Results are In!

Dear Valued Customer,

Over the past month we received many great questions from our customers, and now we have narrowed down the list and are ready to announce the winner. Here at Safe Home™, we asked you to send in any and all safety questions to the
Ask Barbara page, and we were blown away with the response!

This contest was such a great success that we are putting on another! This new  contest, which will run until March 31st, will follow the same format as the previous Ask Barbara Contest. The winner will recieve six Tap Lights, valued at over $50! Simply go to the Ask Barbara page and ask any safety related question you can think of. We thank everyone that submitted a question or stopped by the Ask Barbara site to get some advice along the way, and we look forward to more questions!

Click here official rules and regulations.

And the winner is...

Randi K. from Norwood, PA with the question:Lentek LED Motion Sensor Tap Light

"How can I kid-proof my bathroom? We put things up and away, but I don't like that our son can still get into things."

As the contest winner, Randi will recieve six of the safe and convenient Tap Lights! A prize worth over $50. These portable lights can be used to illuminate hard-to-light areas and as motion detector lights.

Here is what Barbara had to say:

Dear Randi,

Thank you for entering our Ask Barbara Contest.

My suggestion is to put childproof latches on your drawers and doors. We have some that are very reasonably priced. In fact, we have a bulk package that you could split with a friend or use to child proof other rooms of your home. I will write a blog on this in the near future as well. For outlets, we also have the sockitlockit plugs which he would not be able to remove. There are no childproof outlet covers for GFI outlets.

If you have more questions, please send them along to us. We do recommend installing these units when your child is not in the room. Don't want to help them learn how to un-do your efforts!

Happy Holidays from Safe Home

by Steve Ross 21. December 2010 10:32

 Happy Holidays from  Safe Home

  Safe Home Products Logo
   Toll-free (877) 358-0900 www.safehomeproducts.com

Dear Valued Customer,

As our team at Safe Home™ prepares for the coming holidays, we would also like to take this opportunity to say Thank You! We are looking forward to spending time with our friends and families and hope you are too. We value your business and strive to meet your safety and preparedness needs. We hope you have wonderful and relaxing holidays, and with the New Year approaching, why not consider some useful safety tips?

Food Safety

  • Fully cook meats and poultry and thoroughly wash raw vegetables and fruits to eliminate bacteria.
  • Never put a spoon used to taste food back into food without washing it.
  • Make sure to wash your hands frequently, especially when working with multiple types of food.
  • Always keep raw foods and cooked foods separate. Use separate utensils when preparing them.
  • Thaw meat in the refrigerator, not on the countertop.
  • Foods that require refrigeration should not be left at room temperature for more than two hours.

Tree Safety

  • Look for the label "Fire Resistant" when purchasing an artificial tree.
  • Make sure a live tree is fresh before you bring it home.  It should be green and its needles should be hard to pull from branches. When bent between your fingers, needles should not break. The trunk butt of a fresh tree should be sticky with sap. When tapped on the ground, the tree should not lose many needles.
  • Do not set up the tree near any open flame, space heater, or radiator.
  • Help the tree stay hydrated by cutting a few inches from the trunk to expose fresh wood.
  • Heated rooms can dry out live trees rapidly. Make sure the tree has plenty of water at all times.
Light Safety
  • Check all tree lights for frayed wires, broken sockets or loose connections.
  • Do not use electric lights on a metal tree. A faulty wire could lead to electrocution by touching the tree.
  • Only hang certified outdoors lights outside.
  • Turn off all lights when you go to bed or leave the house. The lights could start a fire.
Traveling Tips
  • Plan ahead! Check travel routes and weather ahead of time.
  • If possible, travel during the daytime.
  • Carry a cell phone for emergencies.
  • Keep doors locked when driving and maintain at least a half tank of gas.
  • Bring a "Breakdown Kit" including jumper cables, flares, blanket, flashlight, and other emergency items.
  • Know how to replace a tire! Make sure you have a spare, carjack, and other emergency tools.
  • Devote your full attention to driving! Avoid distractions such as eating, cell phones, and sleepiness. Stop for coffee or rest if you get drowsy.
  • Take frequent breaks to stretch your legs and promote good circulation.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Safe Home!

Again, we thank you for your support and patronage at Safe Home Products®. Enjoy the holidays and be mindful of all of the easy ways to make this winter season safe for you and your loved ones!
