Dear Valued Customer,

National Fire Prevention Week's roots are in the Great Chicago Fire of October 8, 1871. Over 300 people died and over 100,000 were left homeless. One theory is that a cow kicked over a lamp in O'Leary's barn. In 2006 cooking fires (unattended and human error), heating and arson were the top three causes of residential fires. Careless smoking is the leading cause of fire deaths. (Per Lousiana Office of Emergency Preparedness).

Basic fire prevention includes removing flammables, keeping matches and lighters away from children, etc. Go a few steps farther with these proactive home safety measures: install gas alarms and/or automatic valves, keep gnawing animals from electrical wires and use safe electric heaters.  Let Safe Home Products® help you protect lives and property.

1. Natural Gas and Propane Gas Alarms
Protect against gas leaks. Avoid fires, explosions and death. An 85 decibel alarm is more likely to wake you than the odor of gas. If you heat or cook with gas, install a combustible gas monitor near each gas appliance. Choose a Safe-T-Alert 40-411 corded 120VAC gas alarm, Safety Siren Gas Alarm that plugs directly into an outlet or a GasAware Propane Gas Alarm or GasAware Natural Gas Alarm with cord and rechargeable battery back-up. No professional installation required. 12V GasAware and Safe-T-Alert gas alarms are available for RV and trailer use.

2. Natural Gas and Propane Gas Automatic Shut-Off Valves
The ultimate proactive safety device for home owners and business owners is an alarm activated gas shut off valve. A gas leak triggers an 85 decibel alarm well below the danger point. The gas valve then shuts the gas flow. Safe Home Products sells propane gas and natural gas units in several valve sizes. Professional installation is recommended.
